Ship Hull Hydroblasting
Remote-operated surface preparation for steel ship hulls.
Ship hull maintenance involves broad curved steel surfaces, hard-to-reach areas and demanding coating-removal work. Conventional access can place teams at height or close to the water-jetting and blasting zone, while changes in access and work sequence add to the time a vessel is out of service. A remotely operated crawler moves across suitable steel hull sections carrying the selected surface-preparation tool. The operator controls and monitors the work from a position away from the immediate treatment area; support equipment can be selected to suit the job and its waste-handling plan. Hydroblasting or abrasive blasting may be considered according to the existing coating and required preparation. The aim is a more controlled, repeatable workflow with less direct exposure for the crew. Surface suitability, access, containment and final equipment selection are confirmed during project assessment rather than assumed from hull type alone.
