Storage Tank Shell Hydroblasting

Robotic hydroblasting on exterior steel tank shells.

Exterior tank shells combine large vertical steel areas with seams, fittings and changing access conditions. Manual surface preparation may require personnel to work at height and close to the water-jetting zone, and moving access equipment around a tank can interrupt the work sequence. Magnetic crawlers offer a remote-operated way to treat suitable shell surfaces with a selected hydroblasting or other preparation tool. The operator guides and supervises the equipment from a position away from the immediate treatment area. Flat-bottom, compact and other crawler arrangements can be reviewed against the shape of the shell, while coating equipment may form part of a separate finishing stage. The goal is a steadier surface-preparation workflow and reduced direct exposure for the crew. Existing coatings, curvature, obstacles, containment and the required finish are assessed before the project configuration is agreed.
